Al-Jazeerah reported Thursday that ex-Egyptian Dictator Hosni Mubarak’s Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif had been jailed for interrogation, Mubarak’s NDP Party dissolved and his ministers to be tried for corruption.
Everyone has a heart attack when interrogated by Egypt’s military thugs. These interrogations are comprised of questions and answers under duress, to be sure. But they can include water boarding, hypothermia, and other techniques.
Hypothermia is a condition in which core temperature drops below the required temperature for normal metabolism and body functions which is defined as 35 degrees Fahrenheit, which is near freezing. When the person being interrogated dies, those doing the damage will say that person died of a heart attack. Indeed, most often either asphyxiation or heart attack is associated with water boarding and hypothermia. Making a man stand naked for a long time in a cold cell at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, then throwing freezing water on his cold body can cause heart attack, especially to an older man like Mubarak who is 83 years of age..
If it wasn’t enough for a person under interrogation to be afraid for life and limb, Mubarak was first interrogated at his small vacation home in Sharm El-Sheikh, then taken to an army hospital there. He is described as having uneven heartbeats. This can only get worse with stress. Next he was flown by army helicopter to a hospital in Cairo where he is being interrogated. In total, this process should take fifteen days, state media said.
The Public Prosecution interrogated Sunday Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, sons of former President Hosni Mubarak. they are in a Tura jail to complete their interrogations, according to MENA news agency.
This writer knows that interrogation in Egypt means torture. It is more severe, sources in the FBI and CIA tell me, than that administered in the West or in America where allegations of civil rights violations temper the torture.
Note: There were conflicting reports about the whereabouts of former President Mubarak. Egypt’s al-Ahram newspaper reported on its website Saturday that Mubarak has been transferred by a military helicopter to the International Medical Center, some 42 km east of the capital Cairo, and he will stay there until the end of his interrogation on charges of corruption and ordering the killing of protesters.
Under the guise of stability, U.S. presidents are never charged with corruption. The U.S. reported early in Obama’s tenure that he was looking into prosecuting George W. Bush for war crimes since there was no evidence of Warheads of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Nothing ever happened. This writer surmises that he received instructions from above not to do so.
A legitimate question is who and what constitutes “from above?”
