Catholic condom ban helping AIDS spread in Latam: U.N.

Thanks to Alex for the link.

It isn’t the condom ban issued by the Catholic Church that is the problem with the Latins who have contracted AIDS

Yes, had they used condoms when engaging in sex, they “may” not have contracted AIDS. But the Catholic Church stand against condom use is basically the only right stand. It is the only stand a church should take. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and many other churches take the same stand.

In it they are saying the only way you can be sure of not contracting AIDS, condoms or not, is by abstinence. Having sex only with your married partner is the only sure way to avoid this problem. And there is nothing wrong with the Church taking this stand. In fact, failure to do so would refute God’s will for man, which adultry does in a blantant way.

If any church says condoms are okay, it is as much as admitting that the “law of God” is not extant. That it doesn’t exist anymore. That’s sheer foolishness. God teaches us to love our wives and no other. Only the Muslims and some strange cults practice polygamy. None practice indiscrete sex with the opposite sex, something that has caused an epidemic in South America.

As long as Latins, or any people, continue to have sex outside their marital bonds, they will have problems with sexually transmitted disease. Condoms protect to a certain degree, but are not a surefire way to avoid the AIDs virus, but abstinence is! Here’s the story that condemns the Roman Catholic Church. TEGUCIGALPA (Reuters) – The rapid spread in Latin America of the virus that causes AIDS is made worse by the Roman Catholic Church’s stand against using condoms, a U.N. official said on Monday.

Some 1.7 million people across Latin America are infected with the HIV virus or full-blown AIDS, and the epidemic is spreading swiftly with up to 410,000 new cases in 2006, up from as many as 320,000 new cases in 2004, according the UN AIDS program, UNAIDS.
