SynLawn, based in Dalton, Ga., offers varieties including SynRye, SynBlue and SynFescue – shown here at a home in Santa Monica. The company now uses a soy-based backing for most products, instead of one made from petro-chemicals.
Environmental groups and parents have raised concerns over the chemicals found in artificial turf on athletic fields and playgrounds.
