>LDS Church Implements Hiring Freeze
Jan 08, 2009
Salt Lake City — One of the fastest growing churches in the world has announced a hiring freeze. That will not affect missionary work, as that is done by missionaries who donate two years of their lives.
All employees of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints around the world are affected by a new hiring freeze. It will also affect BYU and all Church Education System Institutes, which run seminary classes at college campuses.
The freeze will not affect the Humanitarian arm of the church, including Deseret Industries. It also won’t affect its subsidiaries, like Bonneville International.Church officials would not comment on whether tithing or donations had decreased.
