>Goodbye, McCain – Liberals Like You Deserve Defeat!

JD Hayworth Header

From the office of J.D. Hayworth 2010
McCain 47 – Hayworth 42!

Your support is making a real difference in this race. In fact, the latest poll fromRasmussen Reports shows that J.D. Hayworth is now only 5 points behind John McCain in the Arizona GOP Primary. We have the “Right Momentum to Retire McCain!”

Those same pollsters showed McCain ahead by 22 points when JD first got into the race and since then McCain has flooded the airwaves with attack ads and distortions. But J.D.’s campaign has fought back, on the radio and on the ground, aggressively contrasting J.D.’s rock-solid conservative credentials with McCain’s “Maverick” record. J.D.’s strategy was so successful that McCain even began to deny that he was ever a maverick. You read that right… McCain actually said that he never felt he was a maverick!

Here is what Rasmussen says about this race: “McCain has been losing ground since January when he picked up 53 percent of the potential GOP Primary vote and Hayworth had only 31 percent.”
Your donation of $10, $25, $100, or more will help us to purchase the advertising we need to spread the truth about J.D.’s record. Please help us keep the “Right Momentum to Retire McCain!”

John McCain is at 47 percent, AND FALLING!

  January March April
McCain 53% 48% 47%
Hayworth 31% 41% 42%
Other 7% 3% 2%
Not Sure 8% 8% 8%

“Any incumbent who is earning less than 50 percent of the vote at this stage of the campaign is considered vulnerable,” the Rasmussen release said.

While John McCain may want to hide from his record, we are not going to let him. Whether it is his votes for amnesty, cap & trade, or the bailouts, the voters of Arizona need to hear the truth and then compare him to the Consistent Conservative, J.D. Hayworth.

>Obama and His Lottery-Winner Syndrome

>What would be the chance in politics of a real rags to riches story? Who would have thought that a well educated, but relatively poor, young man from South Chicago could become president? What kind of odds would there be for a community organizer to strike the political mother load prize of all elections, the White House? Practically unthinkable, but yet that is what has happened in our lifetimes.

Indeed, this “poor man — rich man” scenario actually happened. Before he came on the scene no one thought it possible. He was a man who through a series of fortuitous events, a strange accident of luck and fortune for him, was able to get elected and became a do-nothing State of Illinois legislator in Springfield, Illinois — a man who drank beer and played cards at night with powerful legislators to get “on the in” with these party bosses. He produced scant legislation, and one wonders if there was a plan to this apparent ineptitude which would make it possible for him to have little or no record to run on or against when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate.

After two years in the Senate the record shows that again he failed to create much of a leadership name for himself — he was a do-nothing Senator — but it was then that he started running for president — ultimately winning the national election and becoming president?

It’s almost the stuff of fairy tales. It is so far-fetched it couldn’t have just happened, it had to have been orchestrated, including the outrageous amount of political funding he was privately able to amass with outside help. History tells us that this black Arab man’s white mother was poor and she couldn’t have sent him to college, certainly not to Harvard and Columbia.

We knew little about Obama’s school writings, he sealed the record. He was president of the law review and admits that there were articles that he authored, which is normal and which could have revealed his character and political leanings and where he would take the country if elected president.

Research does tell us he had a private Arab donor who footed his college bills. It also tells us that he had grown up essentially fatherless, except for a black communist Muslim friend of his mother who was in their home often, a communist by the name of Frank Marshall Davis, someone who had taken Barak Husein Obama to a Muslim mosque for indoctrination at an early age, something he will not admit even to this day. He even denies any communist or Muslim influence or background, but the facts are clear. There is a history of this guy “Frank” in Obama’s life, a man whom even Obama admits was often in his home. He was a communist leader in Hawaii and the facts don’t lie that there was this relationship.

Not only has he sealed his school writings, but his actual birth certificate, called a “vault” record because he has apparently paid someone off in Hawaii to seal this record from public scrutiny. He did produce a phony computer copy that states he was born in Hawaii, but if that is so why won’t he produce the actual “vault” copy which we believe would have revealed he was born in Kenja, Africa where his father lived, making him ineligible to run for the presidency.

Why didn’t he reveal either the birth certificate or his writings? Because they would have made it impossible for him to become elected because of the restriction that a presential candidate must have been born in the United States or in one of its territories and to reveal his past writings would have revealed him as a liar, a man who actually favored government ownership of banks, insurance companies, automakers and all sorts of means of production, something which is becoming abundantly clear each day of his administration.

Why don’t I just say it? It would have uncovered the facade of Americanism and fealty and patriotism to the U.S. flag and Constitution; and it would have revealed an out-and-out communist — not just a socialist or a sympathizer of communism — but the communist that he is. Even with all of this information, we have barely scratched the surface of who this man Barak Husein Obama really is. Who in the Societ Union does he most earnestly want to emulate? How will he get on next week when the financial Group of Twenty meet and he has a chance to talk to one of the most successful communist leaders in the world, Hu Jintao. How they get on should shed further light on where he plans to take America during these coming dangerous days.

The chances of a man or woman like this ascending to the highest office in the land are slim to none, except if someone mentored and backed him financially. That would be two separate persons. Originally that someone, we believe, was an Arab prince who funded his college education. There are no free rides in this life, so one must wonder what favors he owes this man in return for his generosity? And what about the rich man who actually paid the lion’s share of his three-quarter million political campaign fund raising which totally overwhelmed his opponent, Senator John McCain. If my statements are in error, I would invite President Obama to set the record straight with an accurate and independent audit and report of what I believe was a most fraudulent and dishonest campaign starting with the funding and ending with the favors he must owe individuals and countries across the globe.

The poor man’s name, of course was Barak Hussein Obama, the middle name of which he shuns even to this day for obvious political reasons. He has tried to disassociate himself from Islam and the Muslim movement, even for 20 years associating with a branch of the Church of Christ in Chicago and the bombastic, outspoken critic of the U.S., Rev. Jeramiah Wright whom under constant fire from critics he repudiated, finally leaving that church.

Obama curried favor with a convicted felon gangster, Tony Rezko, who had much to do with his financial ability to purchase his home in South Chicago. He also associated with a known terrorist, William Ayers, and his terrorist wife Bernardine Dohrn, but he disavows knowing them very well despite the fact that he started his campaign for the state senate in their house. Is it any wonder this president has had such a terribly hard time finding honest people to name to important positions in his administration. Half a dozen of his “vetted” personalities had not paid their taxes, including his treasury secretary Timothy Gaithner who owed more than $40,000 including interest, a man who is now chief tax collector in America. That history would usually disqualify such a man for this office, and now because of his many gaffes and lack of success, many are calling for Gaithner’s resignation. Several proposed appointments had scandalous pasts, including New Mexico governor Richardson.

Obama is member of the liberal Democratic Party in America which only too well remembers the 9/11 attacks and the atrocities of taking down the World Trade Center, an attempted suicide collision with the Pentagon and the White House, resulting in killing 3,000 Americans, a carefully planed heinous attack perpetrated by Arab nationals mainly from Saudi Arabia, an attack for which international terrorist Osama Bin Laden takes full credit, a man who is at large today somewhere in the Afghan hills planning another strike on American soil. If he has his way, this time it will be with the use of a nuclear weapon, thanks to the willing assistance of Iran and maybe the knowledge of a man who may become known as the most natorous traitor of all time Barak Obama.

Those are strong words. I would invite you to read the blog, Advance Indiana for further detail: “His name as a young child was changed to Barry Soetoro when his mother married Indonesian citizen Lolo Soetoro and moved to Jakarta. Indonesian school records state that Obama was an Indonesian citizen and not an American citizen and that his religion was Islam and not Christian, protestations by Obama to the contrary notwithstanding. When or how Obama acquired U.S. citizenship or changed his name back to Barack Hussein Obama is unclear. A birth certificate produced by the Obama campaign was determined by several document experts to be a forged document.

“We know from his autobiography that he had Muslim roommates in college of foreign nationality. Now it turns out that an influential, radical black Muslim with close ties to the Saudi royal family and an outspoken opponent of Israel helped finance Obama’s law school education. Obama’s benefactor at the young age of 25 is Dr. Khalid Abdullah Tariq alMansour a/k/a Donald Warden. Here are some facts you should know about alMansour according to a Newmax investigative report:

  • “He is well known within the black community as a lawyer, an orthodox Muslim, a black nationalist, an author, an international deal-maker, an educator, and an outspoken enemy of Israel.”
  • In a 1995 book, “The Lost Books of Africa Rediscovered,” he alleged that the United States was plotting genocide against black Americans.
  • He was the mentor of Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton and his cohort, Bobby Seale.
  • Al-Mansour’s more recent videotaped speeches focus on Muslim themes, and abound with anti-Semitic theories and anti-Israel vitriol.
  • At the same time he was raising money for Obama’s education he was representing top members of the Saudi Royal family seeking to do business and exert influence in the United States.
  • He advises Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in his U.S. investments. Prince Talal is most famous for offering $10 million to the City of New York following 9/11, a contribution turned down by Mayor Rudy Giuliani because the Prince said American policies were to blame for the terrorist attacks. [Study some of the anti-American comments Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is making as she travels to different countries. Now in Mexico she is stating that the problems Mexico is having with Narco gangs is partly America’s fault. I am wondering what she will say to Chinese leaders if North Korea shoots off a missile that kills Americans in Alaska?].
  • “Prince Alwaleed has made tens of millions in contributions to Muslim-American charities, some of whose leaders have been charged by our government with terrorism-related ties. Prince Alwaleed also donates millions to Harvard for Islamic studies.

Newmax sought a response from the Obama campaign about the financial assistance Obama received from alMansour, but the campaign refused to respond. This disclosure came in a very unlikely fashion. Percy Sutton, a prominent African-American businessman, was being interviewed when he described how he first came to know Obama. “I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him,” Sutton told NY1 city hall reporter Dominic Carter. “The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid alMansour, from Texas,” Sutton said. “He is the principal adviser to one of the world’s richest men. He told me about Obama.” “Sutton, the founder of Inner City Broadcasting, said alMansour contacted him to ask a favor: Would Sutton write a letter in support of Obama’s application to Harvard Law School?”

“Think about how many mainstream media reports there have been this past week trying to link Gov. Sarah Palin to the Alaskan Independence Party, which supports secession from the United States. Yet, this revelation about Obama’s past received no attention from the news media. Why? Obama critic Andy Martin thinks the revelation is a big one. “This latest disclosure may be the ‘smoking gun’ that discredits Obama and destroys his candidacy.” [Obviously it didn’t] “And I think I know where it came from. I honestly do not see Obama surviving financial links to a close adviser of a member of the Saudi Arabia monarchy, not when Saudis were the instigators of 9/11.” “Even a slight link to Saudi money would disqualify anyone from the presidency in the mind of almost every American.” I agree with Martin that it is a big revelation. But this American news media has already decided Obama is The One.”

But who was it that put the political ideas into Obama’s head, or was it a combination of people? It is difficult for any reasoning person to believe that suddenly three-quarters of a million Americans on the Internet donated each one thousand dollars toward his election — or that twice that number donated five hundred dollars. He claims most of his donations were of the one or two-dollar variety, so the number of Internet supporters would have to approach a million. The election laws are so loosly managed in America that, despite evidence of voting fraud, even to this day we the public do not know for sure what happened. But we do know that many of the donations were bogus, even coming in with comic names like Spiderman. That much has been documented elsewhere. Voting commission fraud doesn’t seem to be a thing that the Democrat-controlled Congtress or publicly funded ACORN wants to get into when it affects the eligibility of one of its own, Mr. Obama. ACORN itself is rife with corruption. It is really an arm of the Democratic Party funded by all American taxpayers, which is scandalous and shameful.

And what about those bus visits to Connecticut homes of those AIG execs who received Barak Obama, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd-sanctioned bonuses despite the fact America bailed AIG out? Acorn is founder of The Working Families Party, the group that hired a bunch of poor people to picket and shout obscenities in front of these homes, intimidating these AIG employees and putting them up to national ridicule, shame and scorn. But did they do the same to Franklin Raines, former president of Fannie Mae who walked away with obscene bonuses and salary of over $90 million in only six years of incredibly poor management, a performance that helped cause the meltdown in the first place?

ACORN is the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. While in Chicago, Obama was one of their trainers and could have put them up to this nonsense.

The scorn, ridicule, and rage started with the Congress and the president. It was a cover up for their own mistakes and ineptitude in voting for the AIG bonuses in the first place and for failing to read the bills they actually voted for. Allegations of voter fraud against ACORN are not trumped up, they are real. And why in the world in America should the taxpayers foot the bills for a partisan Democratic front group known as ACORN? While it is true they gave part of the money they got from us taxpayers to Republicans, it was a very minor part compared to that which they forked out to Democrat candidates including Obama.

When Obama started his quest for the presidency, Las Vegas gambling houses would have given him a one in a million chance of prevailing over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary, then an even poorer chance of defeating an experienced Senator from Arizona, even a Viet Nam war hero, John McCain, someone with excellent credentials, someone who could have stepped into the presidency and made excellent decisions on day one as commander in chief.

Interestingly, it was in Nevada where Clinton and Obama were running even in the polls. That was before ACORN weighed in and lent Obama a considerable assist, helping to defeat Clinton in a clearly partisan way. Who says we have free elections in America since the advent of Barak Obama? By all rights, Clinton should be president today — or John McCain — had it not been for the publicly funded and highly partisan ACORN.

But Obama pulled off the worst election scam in history. He is president today, but he so much resembles that kid from the poorest part of the country who had nothing — no car, no means, no real job, and suddenly he wins the lottery and becomes filthy rich with fifty million dollars.

This kid lets his new-found wealth go to his head, lots of girl friends, buys expensive cars and a house for his mother and gambles it all away within two months of becoming rich and agains ends up a pauper.

Obama is this poor kid made rich who comes to Washington with nothing better to do than spend, spend, spend malevolently or just because he never had anything himself, we do not know…until like the poor boy who won the lottery, within two months he bankrupts the country while living high on talk shows and giving lavish White House parties, traveling the country each week to townhalls in Airforce One as if it is suddenly 2012 and he’s running for office again.

If you think all of this is fantasy, think again. It is precisely where we stand today as a bankrupt country after this profligate young man, a man who never had anything before coming to Washington, has strong-armed a Democratic congress and has them in his pocket. Congress has passed every bill he has suggested, spent every dime he has urged on them, being as dishonest as he is, not realizing — or maybe he does realize and it’s all part of the grand plan to bring America to its knees — what the multi-zillion-dollar bailouts of banks, Detroit, and now insurance companies and perhaps any corporation or company he likes is doing to our people.

It’s likely that this profligate’s treasury secretary will continue to have his way with an obsequious congress. It continues to suck up to this near-do-well in the White House who with the president’s blessing wields more power than any previous treasury secretary, even power to at a whim declare any private or public company a threat to the economy, thus grabbing or nationalizing this company and that “for the public good” in truly Marxist fashion, the likes of which we haven’t seen in America or even dreamed could happen since those discredited outlaws Hitler and Stalin came to power in Germany and Russia more than sixty years ago.

>Romney’s Words on Illegal Alien Licensing Still Valid

>Obama’s Plan: Give Licenses To Illegal Aliens

These are not my words, but I agree with them entirely. They are the words of Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Governor Romney’s Record posted January 5, 2008 on the PRIMARY NEWS 2008 NEW HAMPSHIRE blog. Since we are revisiting Obama’s plan to license all illegal alients, let’s see what a brighter mind had to say. What Mitt Romney said then still stands valid today, lest we forget. Had it not been for a quirk of fate (a mild way of saying it) in the Florida Primary Romney, not McCain, could have been the Republican presidential nominee. He was the best in both party primaries.

“I like his [Governor Romney’s] stance on illegal immigration. If you recall, he’s probably the first Governor that did make arrangements with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for that type of training that ICE and we do. I give him a lot of credit for that. … It is an important problem in the state of Arizona and the whole country. That’s one reason I support the Governor, versus many other reasons too. Unfortunately, we have a U.S. Senator from that important state [Arizona] that doesn’t give much emphasis to this most important problem.”

Rockingham County [NH] Attorney Jim Reams On Governor Romney’s Plan:

Rockingham County [NH] Attorney Jim Reams: “We’re very frustrated that nothing has been done. I’m here supporting Governor Romney because he’s a can-do person, and he understands this issue and he wants to fix it. I’m here to say please fix it. The entire system is frustrated with the failure to do so. I’m confident that Governor Romney will make it happen.”

  • Secure The Border. Governor Romney will follow through on the Congressional commitment to build a physical and technological fence along the southern border, and secure other points of entry throughout the country.
  • Implement A Mandatory And Enforceable Employment Verification System. Governor Romney will issue a biometrically-enabled and tamper-proof card to non-citizens and create a national database so employers can easily verify the legal status of non-citizens in this country.
  • Hold Employers Accountable. Governor Romney will make it easier for employers to verify legal status and work authorization of non-citizens through a federal database. Employers will be held accountable if they hire illegal immigrants with stiffer fines and penalties.
  • Reject Amnesty. Governor Romney opposes amnesty or any special path to citizenship for those here illegally.
  • End The Magnet Of “Sanctuary Cities.” Governor Romney will cut back federal funding to cities that are “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants.
  • Oppose Any Special Benefits For Illegal Immigrants. Governor Romney opposes giving driver’s licenses or in-state tuition to those here illegally. He believes states should not provide those types of incentives. As President, he will cut back federal funding to states that do so.
  • Promote State And Local Partnerships With Federal Immigration Officials. More state and local authorities should work with the federal government to enforce immigration laws.
  • Improve Interior Enforcement. Governor Romney will provide additional resources to enforce existing immigration laws throughout the nation.
  • Teach English In Our Schools. Governor Romney believes we must teach English in our classrooms because to be successful you have to speak the language of America.
  • End Chain Migration. Governor Romney believes we should end the policy of chain migration that says if a child is born here to illegal immigrants then, by right, the entire family is brought in based upon that child’s citizenship.
  • Encourage Legal Immigration. Governor Romney will streamline the visa system to recruit and retain skilled workers in high demand by U.S. companies. He will also welcome the best and the brightest from around the world to our universities.

>Joe The Plumber Wins Debate

By Murray Morovitz

Based on the number of times the name of Joe Wurzelbacher of Ohio came up, he clearly scored more points in the debate than Barak Obama and John McCain.

In this crazy presidential election, now two years stale, is the American public tired of both Obama and McCain? Is this little-known man affectionately called Joe the Plumber by both candidates really at the heart of a national debate that has confounded experts? Could he hold the simple answers everyone has been seeking but that have eluded the smartest people alive?

There are a growing number of insiders from both political camps who are sorely disappointed with their candidates. But they look around shaking their heads at those they could have nominated. No one comes to mind. But suddenly Joe the Plumber roars onto the political scene like a white knight driving a golden broken- down plumbing van. Is he the perfect metaphor, the perfect man for the job?

Could it be that Joe has enough time–just 19 days–to sweep the nation into a frenzy and captivate the minds and hearts of voters enough to vote for him as a “write-in” presidential candidate.

He could be the only true outsider, the only man capable of straightening out Washington. All the others are inside impostors. Could he be the missing link Americans have been seeking? Listen to him, and you be the judge.

It has never been done before.

But this is a year of firsts, so why not Joe?

  • first black man to win the Democratic nomination
  • first woman to run for vice president
  • first 72-year-old war hero who can hardly walk and raise his hand above his elbow to run for president.
  • first year a Joe The Plumber has won a national debate.

In a world of firsts, Joe bursts onto the scene like a ratchet wrench from heaven. I can see it now. All the major news outlets and networks are at his door.

Q: “Which party affiliation will you run on, Joe?”

A: :”Neither. They both stink.

Q: What platform do you stand on?

A: Joe looks down at his feet and replies: I’m standing on the front porch platform. I’m here at home. I’ve got six kids in school, bills are piling up, Meg, that’s my wife, and I want to buy this business, see, and I don’t want to be taxed to death. Is that clear enough for youst?

Q: So, it looks like you believe in families, right?

A: Right. Families are what made this country great. Without a husband and wife making kids who grow up and take our place this country goes to the dogs. See what I mean?

Q: You have been most succinct, sir. You also alluded to your house. Apparently you have saved it from foreclosure, right? What do you suggest to get us out of this financial mess we’re in.

A: My house is not going to foreclosure, and that’s because I pay my bills just like 95 percent of Americans do. I’m angry. Can you tell? It’s only those dumb b…..tards who speculated and bought two houses when they couldn’t even afford one that got us in this pickle. I propose we put them all on a plane and send them to Alaska. Make fishers out of them. Let them live in the wilds a few years, enjoy the $1200-a-year oil relief Governor Palin gives those people. In five years, if they want to return to the mainland and have demonstrated they will never do it again, thens when we fly dem back here, but no sooner.

Q; But what would you do to the executives of Fannie and Freddie and to the politicians on both sides of the isle who made the rules to allow those speculators to operate. What would you do to them?

A: Alaska’s too good for them. We put all dose people on a plane and send dem to Siberia–if Putin will take em. Make common laborers out of them for five years. If they learn their lesson, we fly em to Alaska for five more years. Then, if they have truly repented, they can come back to America, which by then we can truly call America the beautiful.

The press is deathly silent and dumbfounded.

One TV announcer tells his audience, “There you have it folks. That’s Joe the Plumber’s solution to the financial crisis. He’s passionate, he’s angry, he’s attractive and most of all he loves America. Those are pretty drastic measures he proposes, but America needs someone who will talk straight, who will get right to the root of the problem. We think he hit a home run today. We think he can unite Americans on both sides.

“There will be more from this common man. We may syndicate his thoughts each day, and I believe most of America will be hanging on his every word from now to November 6th.”

>Sarah Palin Will Do Great!

>I responded to a typical elitist article, cutting and critical of Sarah Palin. It was written by Ruth Marcus and appeared in the liberal Washington Post this morning. There is nothing like the envy and malice that one less successful woman has for a truly successful woman. I want you to read my comments before clicking onto the Marcus article.

Ruth Marcus, you didn’t need to write more than the first paragraph before we caught the vindictive side of you. We who will vote for Sarah Palin and John McCain don’t worry too much about a candidate’s library unless it’s full of Mein Kampf, Karl Marx, and Frederich Engles. We worry about her mind, her heart, and her desire to serve. Where is your mind?

Sarah’s library is one that most working mothers aspire to–she reads things that will help her family. Family means much to Sarah Palin as it does to most Americans. What a pity that those of you who write these silly anti-Palin articles can’t see how much more important it is to teach our children true principles than it is to graduate from Harvard and Yale, than it is to have traveled to St. Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, and Paris.

In the long run her credentials to become president or vice president are just as valid to the masses of common folk in America as John McCain’s vast knowledge and understanding of history. If she were thrust into the presidency the important thing is that she would make sound judgments about the people (experts) around whom she would surround herself. Isn’t that, really, all that the inexperienced Barak Obama can offer?

Not all great presidents have been Harvard- or Naval Academy- trained, or much more than that of the common man. Take Harry Truman, for example, a haberdasher who operated a men’s clothing shop. He was a common man and—like Sarah Palin—an honest person who ran for office. That’s rare today, play it up. Don’t denigrate it. When he ran the Republicans did not try to smear his character and education as you, my dear, are attempting to do to Sarah Palin. Are we living in such different times? Are we that much poorer in spirit than our fathers and mothers?

Think it over—start being fair and balanced. Quit hating and finding fault, for the fault is in you. Truman was respected and treated well by both sides of the isle for his soundness of judgment and not for his vast historical library. Has American society retrogressed so much that political writers must stoop so low as to criticize without knowing what a great human being they are dragging through the mud? The trouble with you elitists who write for the liberal papers is that you assume all Americans are just like you. They aren’t. Get real! You’re out of touch. True Americans are kind and considerate. And you, madam, are not the fount of all knowledge and understanding. Sarah Palin will do just fine in any setting. She may surprise many by the way she is able to help clean up the mess that the preceding group of pseudo-intellectuals have caused, both on the financial front and in foreign policy.

Have an intellectually challenging day!

>What’s Next For Mitt and Hillary?

The above title assumes Mitt Romney, the most talented Republican presidential candidate, is not selected by John McCain as his running mate this weekend.

Romney’s name has been running far above all others in the rumor mills and it will be a surprise to many if he is not selected. But my sources tell me McCain is a gambler and will place his bets on a woman candidate to play up to the millions of “disenfranchised” women who were left gawking when Hillary was defeated by Obama.

There is still a lot of angst among many of the 18 million women who voted for Clinton and now don’t believe they have anywhere to go but down–to Obama country.

A topflight woman would be just the ticket to lift the McCain candidacy and give him the edge in November. Several names have been mentioned, including Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Condi Rice, and a dark horse candidate, Julie M. Beck of Utah.

No, Mrs. Beck is not a politician, she is however a masterful public speaker and is president of the largest women’s organization on the face of the globe. Beck is the general president of the 2.4-million member Relief Society, part of the excellent organization and leadership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Relief Society General President

Julie B. Beck was serving as the first counselor in the LDS Church’s Young Women general presidency at the time she received her call to direct the Relief Society. As a child she learned to speak Portuguese when she lived in Brazil with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters while her father served as mission president. In the Church she has served on the Young Women general board, as ward Young Women and Primary president, as counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, and at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. She is a graduate of Dixie College and Brigham Young University. Sister Beck was a full-time homemaker prior to being called to the Young Women general presidency. She lives in Alpine, Utah, with her husband, Ramon, and they are the parents of three children and eight grandchildren. It’s about time we had a full-time homemaker as a vice president. She would be terrific. Plus, she wouldn’t have any political baggage or record for Democrats to attack.

Dick Morris believes McCain should choose Hutchison. She’s been around for decades and “is not going to make mistakes now.” Morris believes Obama’s failure to nominate a woman is such a glaring misstep that McCain should pounce and take advantage of it.

“The ticket will nominally be Obama-Biden. But, to millions of American women it will be Obama and not Hillary.”

>What Shakles Russia’s Military Threat?

>Has Russia Become The International Spoiler?

August 22, 2008
Moscow–There is mounting tension between the U.S. and Russia since the invasion of Georgia. The West is concerned that this may mark a turning point in aggression from the East and that Georgia is just the starting point for the acquisitive Russians.

But there are forces abroad that will limit Russia’s aggression, and they don’t include it’s lack of passion for war, it’s desire to sell war assets to Syria and Iran, or its desire to re-paint it’s boundaries back to pre-1991 Soviet Union dimensions.

The New York Times believes Russia may yet hold back from some of the more disruptive options depending on how both sides play these next few weeks and months.

We have come a long way with Russia since the Cold War. But lest we delude ourselves, Russia has played ball with the U.S. in terms of wanting to limit Iran’s nuclear bomb capabilities, defeating the Taliban in Afghanistan, and helping with the fight against terrorism in its own self interest.

Everything they do is because it has some lasting benefit for Russia. The Bear is not altruistic, but measures every diplomatic decision, every economic and political move to its final goal, that of more territory and returning to the hegemony of the old days.

Many in Washington hope Russia will restrain itself out of its own self-interest. My view is that is the only way they will restrain themselves. Dmitri Rogozin, a hard-liner who serves as Russia’s ambassador to NATO, told the newspaper Izvestia this week that Moscow still wanted to support the alliance in Afghanistan. “NATO’s defeat in Afghanistan would not be good for us,” he said.

“Moscow may also be checked by the desire of its economic elite to remain on the path to integration with the rest of the world,” said the Times. The main Russian stock index fell sharply in recent days, costing investors $10 billion — many with close ties to the circle of Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin. Don’t ever believe that Putin lacks an economic head, that those investors don’t dictate certain policy to the Russian dictator.

The outbreak of violence in Georgia demonstrated just how abruptly the international scene can change. Now Russia is the top focus in Washington and some veteran diplomats fret about the situation spiraling out of control.

There are many, including Senator John McCain, who believe that the West must apply pressure and “punish the Russians for what is going on in Georgia, first the invasion and second the failure to live up to its agreement and the placement of missiles in Ossetia aimed at Tbilisi. Presidential candidate McCain wants to exclude Russia from the Group of 8 major powers. Such a move would effectively admit the failure of 17 years of bipartisan policy aimed at incorporating Russia into the international order.

Yet Washington’s menu of options pales by comparison to Moscow’s. Masha Lipman, an analyst at the Carnegie Moscow Center, said “there’s a lot more” that the United States needed from Russia than the other way around, citing efforts to secure old Soviet nuclear arms, support the war effort in Afghanistan and force Iran and North Korea to give up nuclear programs. “Hence Russia has all the leverage,” she said.

In forecasting Russia’s potential for causing headaches, most specialists look first to Ukraine, which wants to join NATO. The nightmare scenario circulating in recent days is an attempt by Moscow to claim the strategic Crimean peninsula to secure access to the Black Sea.

Ukrainian lawmakers are investigating reports that Russia has been granting passports en masse to ethnic Russians living in Crimea, a tactic Moscow used in the Georgian breakaway republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to justify intervention to protect its citizens.

Arms sales, as Mr. Assad’s visit underscored, represent another way Russia could create problems. Israeli and Western governments have already been alarmed about reports that the first elements of the Russian-built S-300 antiaircraft missile system are now being delivered to Iran, which could use them to shoot down any American or Israeli planes that seek to bomb nuclear facilities should that ever be attempted. If Israel and/or the U.S. are going to take action against Iran, now would be better than later.

While Mr. Rogozin expressed support for assisting NATO in the war in Afghanistan, other officials have warned darkly about cutting off ties with NATO. The two sides have already effectively suspended any military cooperation programs. But Russia could also revoke its decision in April to allow NATO to send nonlethal supplies overland through its territory en route to Afghanistan.

Russia could also turn up pressure on Kyrgyzstan to evict American forces that support operations in Afghanistan and could block any large-scale return to Uzbekistan, which expelled the Americans in 2005. “The argument would be, ‘Why help NATO?’ ” said Celeste A. Wallander, a Russia scholar at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

Even beyond the dispute over Iran, Russia could obstruct the United States at the United Nations Security Council on a variety of other issues. Just last month, Russia vetoed sanctions against Zimbabwe’s government, a move seen as a slap at Washington.

“If Russia’s feeling churlish, they can pretty much bring to a grinding halt any kind of coercive actions, like economic sanctions or anything else,” said Peter D. Feaver, a former strategic adviser at the National Security Council.

Russia could also accelerate its withdrawal from arms control structures. It already has suspended the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty to protest American missile defense plans and threatened to pull out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty. Renewed tension could fray a recently signed civilian nuclear cooperation agreement and doom negotiations to extend soon-to-expire strategic arms control verification programs.

“Ironically, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, there’s always been the concern about Russia becoming a spoiler,” said Ms. Stent, of Georgetown, “and now we could see the realization of that.”
