>New No-Iron Shirts Could Save You Money

The new No-Iron shirts eliminate the need to iron dress shirts. With these garments you just wash, dry and wear.

The Good Housekeeping Institute tested the shirts by washing them and tumble drying them up to 50 times. They are slightly more expensive (more than $32), but they are worth it. How much do you pay to have the laundry wash and press your white shirts? It could run from $2.00 to $3.00 per shirt, depending on where you live.

I pay $20 to $30 for a new shirt on sale, but they all need laundering. It would only take half a dozen professional launderings to make up the price difference. And when these “professionals” get through with my shirts, sometimes they end up damaged. Or at least, they don’t last as long because of the constant machine pressing. The new no-press shirts revealed the best results. The following brands performed best, according to Good Housekeeping: LL Bean, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Liz Claiborne ($39.50-$65.00).
